Execution for long-term success when integrating photovoltaic (PV) technology into a renewable energy portfolio takes planning. This 2020 Energy Exchange Extra session will lay considerations for such a plan for a PV system's full life cycle including planning and design, operations and maintenance (O&M) budgeting, O&M resourcing, monitoring/reporting, financing, and operational contingency. This session will also survey PV factors that affect PV system performance, safety, reliability, and durability.

Upon completion of this training, attendees will be able to:
- Develop a better understanding of the factors that affect the performance, safety, reliability, and durability of PV modules and balance of systems components, methods to predict failures and performance degradation, and emerging technology advances;
- Identify key design considerations;
- Recognize how to use preventative maintenance planning; and
- Articulate the three pillars of project success: design, engineering, construction, commissioning, and O&M with good monitoring.
